TWO FAB FILMS
"It was a beautiful film."

I can’t think of anything more ridiculous: the Xmas social is to be confined to boys from Glyn. It's absurd to restrict things to two schools all the time. Glyn is so dreadful and I don’t know why, but it’s a fact.
I've decided I want to drive quite soon. Jackie is terribly keen and is mad she’s got to wait until July. Tina can already drive and passed her test first go.
After school Pat, Lucy and me walked down to town. It’s rather interesting - Pat thinks she’s changed a lot since the beginning of this term. Her school in Surbiton was so old-fashioned!
Got to the cinema and at 5.05 ‘Un Homme et Une Femme’ began. Though it was dubbed into English, which was a bit of a disappointment, it was a beautiful film.
Anouk Aimee was the ‘femme’ and she was lovely. Her husband, who she adored, was killed - he’d been a stunt man. Jean-Louis Trintignant was the ‘homme’ and he’d lost his wife - she’d committed suicide. One or two years later they meet because their children go to the same school. Francoise and Antoine are 4 or 5 and adorable. But there was one bit that was so beautiful that it made me cry. He was on the pier wondering where she was. Then, suddenly, he sees her and the children in the distance - so he races to his car and drives down to the beach. They fall into each other’s arms and go round and round, and at that moment you realise how much in love they are. They’d never even kissed before.
The other film was ‘The Girl with Green Eyes’; it brought the book all back. Rita Tushingham was perfect as Kathy, and Lynn Redgrave as Baba. There was a really funny bit when she was trying to appear sophisticated by smoking a cigarette and it fell inside her dress!
Adrian’s scooter was outside when we dropped Lucy off. Lucy appeared in a bit of a flap.
