LAURENCE OLIVIER - A MARVELLOUS SORT OF PERSON

LAURENCE OLIVIER - A MARVELLOUS SORT OF PERSON

M O N D A Y,  2 2  M A Y

Anya brought the Polnareff doll's jumper to school. Honestly It's adorable!  She'll soon have it finished. We can't believe that soon we'll be giving it to him in person (some hopes!).

At break, Lucy and me sat outside Hut R on the logs and tested each other's French vocab. In History, Anya and me composed what to say to Vogue, Polnareff's recording studios - she's ringing them up tonight.

In the evening did French Compo, then made Polnareff's black and red scarf (on the sewing machine, not very well) and drew a really good picture of him in my Rough Book. When I showed it to Chump she said it looked like Dutronc!  The funny thing is, I now think so too. It's the eager look in the eyes, and the long nose.

Saw a very good interview with Laurence Olivier. There were some extracts from his films and plays - he's a brilliant actor. And he's such a marvellous genuine sort of person. You've got to have a very deep understanding of life to be able to act. He said a man of 27 wouldn't be able to do Macbeth - he just wouldn't have experienced enough. (Poor little Finkelstein - aged 25!).

My hair isn't very nice at the moment. When it's ruffled it looks babyish, and freckles keep on popping up all over my face.
