All day I had a queer sort of feeling down my throat and stomach, at the back, a sort of burning feeling. Felt rather weak so went for a walk round the 'estate' - the crocuses and snowdrops are beautiful.

Thing on Bertrand Russell in the Observer supplement. He was a philosopher, way ahead of his time. Perhaps he was one of Finkelstein's idols? One thing he realised was that public schools are bad. So did Beatrix Potter and that was a hundred years ago. Funny that public schools haven't died out.

Pip has fallen in love with ghastly Estella in 'Great Expectations'. Honestly, he looks so like Mr Finkelstein - it's the sideboards, and the creases in his cheeks when he smiles!

In the evening I felt very weak again. I always do in the evenings. My mouth keeps on watering and I can't stop quivering (slightly). Then my shivers got worse, though my temperature was only a little under.

Ma and Pa cheered me up saying I was perfectly ok.
