BACK TO DRIZZLE

Slept superbly well – trains are so comfy. The awful thing was though, we had to get up at 6.45, but we arrived half an hour early, so I was in my nightie when they announced ‘Boulogne’! I’ve never dressed so fast in my life. Revolting weather and it was cold on the platform. Went into the station restaurant for breakfast, and we left.

Lots of fab boys hitch-hiking, like there were around Aix - we didn’t give any a lift.

At Le Touquet we first went onto the beach; there was a howling gale. Shopped for food, and had hot chocolate and patisseries in a 'Tea Room'. Then went to the airport, and got a paper to find out about the pirates. Radio London closed down at 3 o'clock - nine hours before they had to.

Their last song was ‘All you Need is Love’. Chump says it should have been ‘Help’!

Radio Caroline gave a one-minute silence. It's awfully sad.

Our aeroplane, 'Le Quatorze Juillet', was nearly as bad as that one last year, and the ride wasn’t smooth; I felt rather sick. Still, it’s utterly marvellous compared to that horrible boat. You watch the French coast disappearing and before you know it, you’re in England!

Drove home in the depressing drizzle and stopped for lunch at the White Hart in Bletchingly. The Spanish waiter looked like Adamo, the chef was rather a snazz, and as I walked in I got an awful shock (it was lovely really) - there was this boy sitting opposite and I thought it was Dutronc!  Had tomato soup which was fab because we asked for cream to be poured on top. Had roast lamb and apple pie with custard.

No letters for me when I got home. Wrote my Diary, and Chump and me put on the Dutronc record. It brought back the concert staggeringly as she remembered a lot of the movements he made, like shaking his legs in 'On Nous Cache Tout' and raising his left arm whenever a song was over! I sat and clapped, and whistled at the ‘whah’ bits in ‘Les Playboys’! Longing to tell Anya and Lucy how fab the concert was.

It’s now 8 minutes past 11 - Polnareff must have just come on at the Palais de la Méditerranée. Oh I can hardly believe it. He's probably playing 'La Poupée Qui Fait Non' right now.
