INGRID IS PUT OUT: CHUMPY GETS A TROUSER SUIT
M O N D A Y, 9 J A N
It didn’t snow today but the ground is still white.
I did Latin and Geog, and listened to French radio. I heard this most wonderful song twice, ‘Fouranger du poupee’ or something, by Hughes Aufray. It’s so beautiful and his voice is so lovely that I’m practically in love with him. It makes me want to cry.
Ghastly boring day as Ma and Chump were in London for most of it. They came back at 3 - Chump got a trouser-suit and skirt to match. They’re jolly nice but I think a trouser-suit looks foolish on an eleven year old. Anyway, she’s terribly proud of it.
Saw Blue Peter – it really is an excellent children’s programme. After supper I read Jackie and there was a letter from a girl who’s keen on a teacher at school.
Read Beatrix Potter Diary, then watched Panorama on education. Didn’t make me any clearer about Comprehensive Schools. Fed up it’s school tomorrow, the thought of exams so soon sickens me.
I felt slightly sick in the day and quivery in the evening.
